Shermay is an award-winning cookbook author, renowned food consultant and Le Cordon Bleu trained chef, specialising in Singapore heritage and Peranakan cuisine. A former investment banker turned chef, her first foray into the culinary world was the reworking of her grandma, the late Mrs Lee’s, iconic cookbookThe relaunched cookbooks, The New Mrs Lee's Cookbooks Vol 1 and 2, won an international cookbook award, and have become classics in their own right. For 11 years, she ran Shermay's Cooking School, which was nestled in the charming Chip Bee Gardens estate. In 2015, she closed the school to focus on consulting projects for Singapore Airlines and Fullerton Hotel, and to launch her first product, Cilicuka Original under her new brandShe has since consulted for Shangri-La Hotel, Tanglin Club and Sheraton Towers Hotel, and has expanded her range of ready-to-eat sauces, crackers and curry powder. 


Inspired by her grandma, a doyenne of Peranakan cuisine, she started Shermay’s Singapore Fine Food in 2015 as a way of honouring and preserving Mrs Lee’s culinary legacy. Two of the recipes, Cilicuka Original and Nonya Curry Powder, were faithfully recreated from secret, handwritten heirloom recipes that had been handed down in her family for nearly a century. The other sauces, sambals, marinades and crackers are Shermay’s own expressions of the authentic taste of Peranakan cuisine and our beloved Singapore food heritage. 


Deeply dedicated to remaining true to authentic Singaporean home taste, Shermay’s Singapore Fine Food, at its heart, is committed to the recreation of childhood memories of Mrs Lee's cooking, and hopes to bring that same sense of home and family to your table.
