We are a cohesive and dynamic team serving the tripartite mission of clinical care, education and research within the academic health system. We are seeking a suitable candidate to fill a part-time position (up to 35 hours per week) to deliver services for either a) pediatric communication disorders in the acute care and outpatient clinic settings or b) adult acute care and outpatient clinic services. The pediatric caseload (a) will comprise school-aged language disorders, developmental speech disorders, acquired communication disorders and fluency disorders. The adult caseload (b) will comprise dysphagia and acquired communication disorders. The ideal candidate should have a passion for serving in the public healthcare sector. He/she should embrace lifelong learning and desire to contribute to the development of others. Candidates should write in with a cover letter stating clinical area(s) of interest and expertise.

The Challenges

You will be required to:

  • Assess and manage patients referred for speech therapy independently and implement appropriate treatment plans.
  • Report to referring doctor and other members of the medical team.
  • Document patient speech therapy records accurately.
  • Charge patients accurately.
  • Perform registration of new patients.
  • Update individual performance statistical records regularly.
  • Comply with clinical and service standards.
  • Practice within areas of professional competence and seek clinical support from supervisor / other healthcare professionals when appropriate.
